  • Was in Bolton "industrial school" in 1891 census, trained to be a driller. Was there because his mother died whilst he was young and his father was an invalid and a "patient" in an Asylum, because of his disability not his mental state (Not proven just word of mouth).

    Served in the 2nd Boer War.
    Served in WW1 - was gassed in WW1 and suffered ill health for the rest of his life.
    Member of the home Guard in WW2.
